Trelawney Alliance call on the public to attend an emergency public meeting on Friday 20th August, - The Trelawney Alliance are inviting members of the public to attend an emergency public meeting on Friday 20th August at the Camborne Community Centre. They say they want the public to hear the truth about Cornwall Council Highway's plans and reasons for the new proposed Treswithian Intersection. (16 August 2010)

 

Cornwall risks losing out in economic partnership says MP- An economic body serving the whole of Cornwall and the 'Westcountry' risks leaving Cornwall "strait jacketed", Andrew George MP has warned. (14 August 2010)

 

Madonna 'has bought new house in Falmouth,- The singer Madonna currently making a film about King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson is said to have splashed out on a riverside home in the Falmouth area. (12 August 2010)

Council homes should not be for life, says Cameron,- David Cameron believes that new council and housing association tenants should be told that they can occupy their new homes only for as long as those in authority think they need them. (4 August 2010)

Cornish resistance against bid to unite economy in 'Devonwall' partnership,- Plans to create a peninsula-wide body to boost the economic prospects of Cornwall and the 'westcountry' have been virtually killed off by resistance in Cornwall. (29 July 2010)

 

Cornwall Council cuts will cost 2,000 jobs,- Around 2,000 council jobs in Cornwall are to be axed in a bid to save £110 million over the next four years in local government spending . (28 July 2010)

 

Planning row puts ferry link to Isles of Scilly earmarked funding funding in danger,- Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond, has warned funding for the "lifeline" link between the Isles of Scilly and the mainland is at risk until the Battle of Battery Rocks is resolved. (26 July 2010)

 

Planning precedent says 'NO' to Steeple Fields development,- Protesters at a meeting arranged by St Ives Trust clashed with Cornwall Care Ltd, over their proposed development of a care home and retirement complex on 'green field' site. (23 July 2010)

 

U-Turn On Housing,- George Eustace MP changes pre-election stance on east-west highway which is part and parcel of mass housing plans for parts of Cornwall, suggests CoSERG. (22 July 2010)

 

CoSERG Comment and Discussion......

 

RSS targets replaced by locally agreed housing targets?, - News that the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) targets for Cornwall are to be replaced has been generally welcomed. Does this mean that the pressure for unsustainable development will cease? That new housing targets will be set well below the RSS figures? "Possibly not" says CoSERG's discussion paper.(05 June 2010)

 

The Tuckingmill Framework Consultation Draft, - The plans for the TUV include housing, community facilities and a new school. Part of the East-West Highway will run across the site. CoSERG says, "The revised plans for the TUV cannot be considered in isolation however; they are part of the ‘transformation’ of the Camborne-Redruth area."(11 October 2009)

 

Hayle, Supermarkets, Economy and Environment – the issues,- News that a number of supermarkets are seeking to establish themselves in and around Hayle have produced a range of comments from those in favour to those against.
